Theory Training includes critical knowledge of the law regarding the use of handcuffs, the ACPO guidance on their application, the relevant legal framework encompassing the Criminal Law Act 1967, the Criminal Justice Act Scotland 2003 and the Human Rights Act 1998. It also addresses health and safety considerations, medical risk factors, PUWER 1998 (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations),
Practical Training in compliant restraint using front stack, rear butterfly and none compliant restraint using control and restraint techniques such as kneeling position and safe prone (ground) restraint.
