Training providers
The people who train you do not work for the Sia. The Sia do not receive any of the fees you pay to them. They are private companies whose business is to deliver the training that you need to get an SIA licence.
Training providers are approved by awarding organisations, not by the Sia. The awarding orginisations register all training providers with the Sia, once the correct vetting and qualification checks have been complete.
Awarding organisations
The awarding organisations are the ones who send you your qualification certificate, once you have completed the relevent training with a training provider. They also upload the details of your qualification into the Sia licensing system, so you may apply for your Sia license with ease.
Awarding organisations develop their qualifications to match the Sia specifications. They approve training providers and quality assure the examination process.
Scotland has its own Information Commissioner who regulates the Freedom for Information (Scotland) Act which covers Scottish public authorities. Because of this, the main focus of our Scottish office is data protection, for which the ICO is the sole regulatory body in Scotland. However, the ICO does have regulatory power under the Freedom of Information Act for UK public authorities based in Scotland.
We offer a wide variety of programs to meet the diverse needs of our learners through our awarding orginisation (AO) Highfields Awarding Body, a global leader in compliance, work-based learning, accredited and apprenticeship qualifications and one of the UK’s most recognisable awarding organisations. As such we’re regulated by Ofqual, Qualifications Wales, SQA Accreditation, the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA), and the Security Industry Authority (SIA). In addition to this, we’re also a government-regulated end-point assessment organisation (EPAO) and the current EPAO of the Year, as well as a 2024 King's Award for Enterprise winner.
